Q1 GA4 Update

The past few months have been quite eventful for the Google Analytics platform, with several exciting new features and improvements introduced.

Here's a quick rundown of the most significant updates:

The PDF that is attached will explain the updates and what that means for you and your company.

Big Q1 GA4 Updates

  1. Attribution: First-click, linear, time-decay, and position-based attribution models are going away. Google Analytics will sunset first-click, linear, time-decay, and position-based attribution models from the reports. Starting in May, newly created properties will no longer be able to select these models. Starting in September, we will sunset these models for all other properties. Cross-channel data-driven attribution, cross-channel last click, and Ads preferred last click will continue to be available.
  2. Custom Channel groupings are now back in Google Analytics. We can now change the scope of channel groupings so we can manipulate the data to separate into channels the clients want to see them in.  We still need the correct UTMs to funnel traffic correctly.
  3. Business Objectives: Google has made several improvements to the GA4 user interface, making it more user-friendly and intuitive. The new interface is designed to help you find the data you need more quickly and easily.

Overall, these updates demonstrate Google's commitment to making GA4 a more powerful and flexible tool for marketers and analysts. If you haven't already, we highly recommend upgrading to GA4 to take advantage of these new features and enhancements.
